Everyone in Singapore knows that movement was restricted during the circuit breaker between 7 Apr to 1 Jun 2020 so obviously, the traffic on the roads was reduced and so were congestions. However, are there numbers we can look at to give us a sense of the reduction?

Updates to Lornie Road and Lentor Ave due to bus services and bus stops changes.

I was looking at the infographics for last month and I saw something weird. Unless it occurs regularly (e.g. every Sat afternoon along Punggol Road towards Sengkang at TPE junction), any congestion accumulated above 200 mins in a single day is unusual.

Looking at the snail chart for March 2019, I am glad that Punggol Road is not the champion. However, I also notice something glaring - Thomson Road is holding the #1 and #3 spot.

With months of accumulated data from Oct 2017, Traffico now offers year-on-year statistics to give us even more insights into the changing traffic profile of Punggol Road (TPE).

The new snail champion for Nov 2018 is not Punggol Road - TPE (towards Sengkang) and it is likely to stay that way for some time. Yay!

Residents in Punggol should have heard the good news that the new link between Kallang-Paya Lebar (KPE) / Tampines Expressway (TPE) interchange and Punggol Central would be available by end Nov 2018, one year ahead of schedule. With another vital ingress and egress into and out of Punggol Town, the dynamics of Punggol road will surely change.

Due to F1 Grand Prix 2018, some bus services will be diverted and their bus arrivals will be unavailable between 12 to 18 September. For more details, please refer to updates from LTA.

We have a new champion! "Exit TPE towards Punggol" beats the usual champ "Punggol Rd towards Sengkang" by 154.03 mins to claim the top spot.

Over the last weekend, Traffico was down between Saturday noon and Sunday late afternoon. According to the hosting company, for some reasons, the IP address of the LTA server was placed in a blacklist due to suspicious activities.

Recently, I have been working on another tool that displays traffic conditions. The main difference between Traffico and Traffico+ is the data source. Although both of them rely on open source data...

Yesterday, I was alerted to a traffic jam along Lornie road by a friend via WhatsApp. Apparently, by that time (10:40am), the congestion has somewhat eased...

Other than a minor change in ranking, you will also see a drop in congestions across the board. This might be one of the strongest evidence yet of a correlation between school holidays and traffic conditions.

This makes Traffico a little more ‘sensitive’ to pick up traffic buildup but not too overly sensitive to report false prolonged congestion. It should not have a negative impact on the monthly statistics and ranking as well.

Yes, no surprises there. In fact, spots along Punggol Road hold the top four of five positions. Salute! What made Punggol Road such a winner is the good mix of weekday and weekend congestions.

We should really start leveraging on smart data to do things more efficiently and effectively.

To date, Traffico has been monitoring specific stretches of roads and there was not much competition where congestion is concerned.

I was analysing my data when I saw something peculiar; Throughout the first 3 weeks of October 2017, there was only 4 instances of traffic congestion and 1 of them, on 18 Oct 9:30am, lasted pretty long at 80 mins as shown below.

Yesterday, I was randomly checking out Traffico home page when it reported a congestion along Clementi Ave 6 (Exit AYE towards Clementi Ave 6) at around 1:10pm.

Is that true? Fortunately, there is a traffic camera pointing at that exit so I was able to investigate further.

This is the reason why I started Project Traffico in the first place - to better understand the traffic conditions along Punggol Road - TPE junction.
